Quinn – Japanese Maple

I remember when I was studying for my Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Savannah College of Art & Design, I had a professor say, “Every piece of art, comes down to color theory.” In the [many] years that have followed, I find this phrase remains true.

For instance, Quinn’s portraits would not have turned out so lovely, had she been wearing green, yellow or even blue. Our choice of Rose, however, was the absolute perfect choice to compliment the spring green and golden shades of the delicate Maple tree. The overall effect allows Quinn to become the focus of the photograph.

Quinn’s photos are proof that compelling photos do not always require an unusual location, sometimes a great portrait comes down to simplicity of subject matter and good color theory. Having a beautiful smile doesn’t hurt either.
